House of Manus is a new conscious brand where fashion meets sustainability. They aim to reshape the industry with a zero carbon footprint by handpicking vintage and antique fabrics sourced locally in Spain. Each garment is seasonless, unique, and handcrafted by talented seamstresses.
Closely together with the owner, Sophie Weijenberg, I’ve created the strategy and brand identity of House of Manus. We focussed on storytelling and making sure their values were clearly communicated.
I’ve started this process by conducting extensive research into the market and the value proposition of House of Manus. I wrote, searched, documented, and visualised a lot of the conversations that Sophie and I had.
With this pack of information, I started creating her concept, with a mood board and colour card. This concept revolves around the idea of reviving heritage and embracing conscious elegance. It’s a journey that intertwines sustainable fashion, artisanal craftsmanship, and captivating storytelling.
The mood is a harmonious blend of familiarity, warmth, and creativity. It exudes a sense of authenticity, inspiring a feeling of being at home while embracing the extraordinary.
The colour palette reflects the brand's essence and values. The relatively neutral tones, like cream and soft beige, and muted shades like almost black are the base of the concept and evoke a sense of nature and consciousness. Additionally, a pop of dark red and deep blue can add a touch of creativity and energy.
The creation of the logo easily flowed from this concept. It expresses heritage through the serif typeface with its antique, classic roman proportions. To give a sense of uniqueness and authenticity, I’ve added a handwritten connection between the o and u. It brings a more handcrafted feeling that suits perfectly with the brand’s identity.
Because the communication of House of Manus will be mainly through Instagram, I’ve created different logo variations to inject a modern playfulness into their social media design while retaining the core elements that define the brand. With a modern twist, these dynamic logos embody our commitment to creativity and sustainability, uncovering the essence of House of Manus.
Because of the meaning of the brand, I’ve created three hand-drawn symbols, which make the branding of House of Manus complete.
